From Pescara (The nearest Airport)
Booking a flight? - Try Ryanair FIRST (London-
Stansted to Pescara)
Flight Time = 2hrs 30mins)
Drive Time = Allow 1.5hrs with a short break
By using the more local Airport in Pescara you can
avoid any “Driving in Rome” Traffic! BUT it will
probably be harder to get a flight and may work out
just as costly as driving from Rome.
From the Rome Airports
British Airways (London-Heathrow to Rome-Fiumicino
“Leonardo Di Vinci” International Airport)
ALitalia (London-Heathrow to Rome-Fiumicino “Leonardo
Di Vinci” International Airport)
Easyjet (London-Gatwick to Rome-Ciampino)
Flight Time = 2hrs 40mins
Note: Fiumicino is the larger of the two Rome Airports.
Ciampino is the nearest airport for your trip to Secinaro
BUT, as a driver, I prefer the little extra distance from
Fiumicino which is easier to find and slightly less stressful
driving.
Car Hire (Fumicino Airport)
Book your Car Hire on-line before your trip and allow time
for a little walk to the Car Hire Desks, up a floor and
across the bridge at Fumicino! (We even had quite a
queue just to take the lift up which was annoying)
We have used Avis, Hertz, SixT etc for the best price on
the day - but check out their Terms & Conditions with
regards to Damages/Write-Off etc
Drive Time from Fumicino Airport to Secinaro
(Allow about 3hrs with a short break)
As you come out of the Car Hire place, just look for the
green autostrada sign towards Rome but then look for
signs to L’Aquilla and then Pescara. Exit at Prato Peliigna,
pay your Toll and head off towards Raiano …. now is the
time to set your SatNav for Secinaro.
Just a TIP .... keep away from School holiday times
(unless you have kids of course) if you want a cheap
flight! .... Then again, it's quite amusing when the pilot
gets a loud cheer from the schoolchildren when he's
landed safely!

Getting There (Fly & Drive)
Car Hire (Pescara Airport)
Book your Car Hire on-line before your trip but then
get through customs and baggage as quick as you
can as a short queue of two can take ages, especially
if there is a problem!
We have used Avis, Hertz and SixT for the best price
on the day - but check out their Terms & Conditions
with regards to Damages/Write-Off etc
Drive Time from Pescara Airport to Secinaro
(Allow 1.5hrs with a short break)
As you come out of the Car Hire place, turn Right on
the main road, turn Right at the lights, over/straight
on at the small roundabout, bear left then right at a
smaller roundabout and just follow the road through
to a larger roundabout at the Sambuceto shopping
centre. Turn Right and then at the next Roundabout,
take the 3rd exit to the Autostrada. Exit at Prato
Peliigna, pay your Toll and head off towards Raiano.
Now is the time to set your SatNav for Secinaro.
Using your SatNav as you get nearer
Put in: “Secinaro” “Via Roma” “Number 1” which should take you through the Piaza. Carry on through to the
Farmacia (the chemist), where you can park and then WALK up the hill to the Turning Point, go Right after the big house
on your Right, down the little cobbled slope, go Right then Left and you will see our Tiled Verandah.
Arrive at the Piazza in Secinaro and then
drive through to park at the Farmacia.
Up hill until it narrows by the big house,
turn Right, down a little slope and Right again
The Apartment & Verandah will be on
your Left
Tip: If you want to fly Business Class then you will have to
fly to Rome probably with BA. A bit more expensive but it’s
“Because you are worth it!” …. get the benefits of Fast Track
through Security, use of the Business Lounge with free food
and drinks, more leg room on the plane (2 seats side by
side). Food, with Champagne provided courtesy of BA on
the plane. The only disadvantage is that you have to drive
from the Rome Airports to Secinaro.
