Popoli Nature Reserve/Town Centre
Difficulty: Easy+ (2.0 Hours) Start=Car Park in Nature Reserve on Left (Opposite side of main road to the Castle),
taking in the Nature Reserve and over the other side to the Town
To the Start: Driving from Secinaro, for a change rather than go through Raiano,
you can go Left through Molena then Right - following your SatNav - over the
Mountain and through Vitorea to Popoli.
This is an excellent/Easy Ride …. Park/Chain up your bike in the town if you want to
go inside one of the Churches. Easy down hill ride from the Nature Reserve and
across the main road into the town centre, where you can have a picnic in the park,
have an icecream or sit in one of the cafes then take a look inside one or two
churches.
Start at the Car Park for the Popoli
Nature Reserve
Ride down to see the Source Of
the River
River source bubbling up from the ground
not often you see that!
Ride across to the other side to go into town
Nice flat road into the Town area
To the end of Town, turn Right to see the
Fountain and La Chiesa Di San Francesco
Chain your Bike up and walk up to see the
second Church (Probably closed from the
earthquake in 2009)

Local Shops around Secinaro
Secinaro: Around the Piazza area there is a General Groceries Shop;
down the hill a little there is a Butchers on the Right and a General
Shop/Cigarettes on the Left …. Up the hill above the small Church is
Antonio’s small Supermarket, which is as good as the large
Supermarkets for fresh cut meats etc for your Anti Pasta!
Half-Day Closing in Secinaro is on Thursday afternoons
