Archeological Sites
Castel di Ieri, located in the Abruzzo region of Italy, is home to a couple of intriguing archaeological sites but you will
need to check when they are open or arrange a visit as required:
Parco Archeologico del Tempio Italico (Temple)
This site features the remains of two ancient Italic temples from the 2nd century BC,
referred to as Tempio A and Tempio B, which were places of worship for the Peligni
Superequani.
The archaeological area, which spans approximately 120 by 90 meters, was excavated
starting in 1987 and the temples are situated at the base of a rocky cliff where a
spring once flowed. Additionally, five tombs were discovered deeper in the site, adding
to its historical significance. If you’re interested in visiting, the site is accessible and
offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient Italic religious practices and community life.
