Museums in Abruzzo
The starting place for Museums in Abruzzo has to be Pescara which has a couple of large “Must See” Museums and quite a
few smaller ones.
Pescara
Chieti
There are two excellent Museums to see in Chieti within a short walk of each other, so you can do the two in half a day and then go off to
the beach in Pescara. Parking wasn’t easy but we just found the La Civitella Museum, drove past it and eventually were able to park in the
street freely not too far away. (If you could find the other Museum first then you could drive in and park up freely).
Museums are Open 9.00 - 20.00 (BUT Closed on Mondays) - Entrance Fees were €4 in August 2011

ere you can see look around the Museum then go outside to see the Reconstructed Roman
Amphitheatre right in the middle of Chieti. We picked up a Guide Book in English and also
the lady at reception spoke good English. Also, lots of the displays had English text as well as
Italian. (Nice toilets and a few seats/benches dotted around so you can rest your weary feet
- but DON’T go and sit on an exhibit!)
