Food and Drink - Eating Out
General Information If you are eating out, you will need to know your Knife, Fork and Spoon in case you don’t get one! Un Coltello (Knife), La Forchetta (Fork) and Un Cucchiaio (Spoon). If you want a teaspoon it is Cucchiaino. Also, don’t forget to hang onto your knife & fork after the first course (Prima) - you will use the same for your Main Course (Seconda)!
Secinaro - La Dolce Vita Located just down the hill behind the Piazza. Recently updated and has a lively bar atmosphere with large screen TV. The young ones seem to like it and it is useful for a quick meal when you don’t want to drive or leave the village. Nearest one if you are located in Secinaro and, if it is not raining, it has a small outside eating area if it is fine. Excelent burgers and my favourite chips with skin (Patatene con la buccia)
Tables for Large/Small Groups A round table is cosy and ideal for two couples or family
Located just opposite the old bank tucked away in the side street behind the Takeaway Pizzeria. An absolute gem in terms of modern decor and it has to be seen to be believed. Hard to work out its overall theme though - some sort of Tourism/Local Products Promotion both Online or Inside the restaurant I think! (Computer terminals dotted around with products on display with beautiful decor which must be seen). The jury is out on the meal we had, didn’t lift itself to the levels of the decor but enjoyed all the same with good service. We had a large round table for five of us in a space of our own and we could see a nice covered outside space which people were enjoying. We left quite happy but feeling that we needed to know more!
Castelvecchio Subequo - Vivendo Store
Vivendostore (Dine in/Takeaway) Via Ignazio Silone, 4, 67024 Castelvecchio Phone: 0864 797942 Web: vivendostore.com

It’s always nice to leave a tip after a good meal if you have had good service BUT check first if there has been a Service or Cover Charge included on the Bill, in which case, you have no need to leave an extra Tip (you will have been charged enough). Look on the Bill for “Coperto”, “Servizio” or “Servizio Incluso”.
Rocca Di Mezzo - Trattoria Antichi Sapori

Bear Right as you leave town at the top end (opposite end to the Tourist Information) and you will find the Restaurante on your Right. We had a good lunch there and it looks good for the evenings. You probably need to book ahead for the evenings  +39 0862917360 Via Della Madonna 2. Rocca Di Mezzo
Rocca Di Mezzo - Vento Nel Vento (Pizzeria, Trattoria, Forno A Legna)

Prezza - Villa Letizia Pizzeria/Restaurant
From Secinaro, go through Raiano and then off Right to Prezzo before you reach the Supermarket - come back the opposite way to Raiano and it makes a nice round trip! We were well looked after and could have eaten outside but it was a bit windy …. Should have had one Primo (Pasta) between two, there would have been enough! Aperto anche per pranzo Viale Europa, 7 - Prezza (Aq) (Bivio per Campo di Fano) Info e Prenotazioni Tel: +39 0864.45056

Goriano Sicoli - Il Girasole (Europa Hotel) Pizzeria/Restaurant and B&B
Nice drive out from Secinaro. Donato, the proprieter, is Australian/Italian and obviously speaks good English. You can eat Inside or Outside under cover and can be assured of a good welcome and good service. Our kids particularly liked the Girasole (Sunflower) Pizza with Chips spread out like a sunflower! We liked the Tiramisu - one for all others to be judged by! The, be sure to take a stroll or short drive to look at the ancient Water Feature/Fountains at the top end of town Note: Chiuso il Mercoledi  (Closed Wednesdays) Via Capitano Manfredi; Colangelo 1, 67030 Goriano Sicoli (AQ) Tel +39 0864.72.02.30  www.europark.it  ilgirasole@europark.it
Chalet Di Sirente (Up the mountain between Secinaro and Rocca Di Mezzo)
Cosy atmosphere inside
Just a short drive up the hill from Secinaro towards Rocca Di Mezzo (Beautiful in Autumn). Here you can have a simple drink and a toilet stop or a full meal at very reasonable prices but, from our experience, don’t expect a nice hot cup of tea! Can get a bit crowded during August Ferragosto but otherwise a nice stop off. Open Friday/Saturday/Sunday 9.30am - 6.00pm You can book in for lunch if you have a party of min 6 persons Tel: -339-7429265 or -328-0115157
Check season/opening times Turn left at the railway crossing going down the hill
Raiano - Lo Chalet
Located up a small road to your Left just before the Railway Crossing before going into Raiano from Secinaro end. Eat inside (dentro) or outside (esterno) …. A great place to go for a Pizza or an Arrostacini (6 to 8 Pieces recommended) BUT we were let down on the day by an unfriendly/flippant attitude at La Casa but worth another try.
Raiano - El Encanto (Cuba Pub)
Located just up from the main Piazza down a street on your left. Eat inside (dentro) or outside (esterno) in the street with large TV Screen projected on the wall. Not sure what makes it Cuban but has a good menu presented on your table mat and excellent service to your table. Then you can celebrate with a good range of Cocktails at a reasonable price. Cocktails Analcolici (Non-Alcholic) or Cocktails Alcolici (Containing Alchol)
Good fun sitting outside in a closed off side street
Rocca Di Mezzo - Barbagianni (Opposite Antichi Sapori)
Not managed to get in yet Check opening times
Bear Right as you leave town at the top end (opposite end to the Tourist Information) and you will find the Restaurante on your Left, across the road from the Antichi Sapori. You probably need to book ahead for the evenings  as we couldn’t get a table but it was August.
Sulmona - Buonvento (Meaning Good atmosphere, fair winds and calm seas?)
Up a street before you go through the Arches "Shabby Chic" Decor Excellent Italian food Reserve your table in advance

A great place to go for a Pizza or an Arrostacini (6 to 8 Pieces recommended) BUT we were let down on the day by an unfriendly/flippant attitude at La Casa but worth another try.
An excellent and very Italian ristorante located up the street before you go through the aquaduct arches in a small square where you can also find a church and another good ristorante called Gino’s. I think the parking outside it is limited to an hour and not easy to get to, so probably best to walk up from the main square or park on the road behind it heading towards the Confetti Museum. The furnishings are very interestingly and nicely done “Shabby Chic” if you know what I mean <Click here if you don’t>
Sulmona - Gino’s Ristorante (Just across from the Buonvento Ristorante)
Across from Buonvento
Located just across from the other “Buonvento” Ristorante with a slightly different/more modern atmosphere. Hotel in Sulmona historic city center At Gino’s there is also, apparently, a Shop and a small family Hotel which has been open since 2009. Rooms are simple and comfortable but they are both polished and elegant. The hotel provides a relaxing reading room and is in an enviable position, being close to most of the interesting tourist attractions in the historic part of the town. If it is open, why not take a look inside the Church which is in the same square?
Best to make a Reservation Small shop with typical reginal products Also a small 4-room hotel
Small 4 Room Hotel since 2009 (In the historic part of town)
Small shop for where you can buy typical regional products, cheese and wine.
Lively pub atmosphere
Sulmona - Mercato Pratola Centrale Ristorante (Across from the Carrefour Supermarket)
Located just across from the Carrefour Supermarket, the Ristorante is up on the first floor, next door to the Wine Bar/Pizzeria. It has a very modern atmosphere but it was a bit lively (noisy) for us on a busy day - worth another try when it is a bit quieter. Closed on Mondays Open every evening 19.30 - 22.00pm Sat/Sun also open for Lunch 12.30 - 15.00pm
